ANDREAS STAHEL (1967)
Flutes, overtone singing, performance, composition.
Born in 1967, grew up in St. Gallen, Switzerland. He's played flute since the age of 11. After completing a classical musical education, he played mainly as an improvising musician in several formations. Many meetings he made lasting impressions – meetings with artists from other areas like dance, performance, painting, acting and lyrics. Due to immersing himself intensely in composition, modern classical music, free improvisation, jazz, overtone singing, playing the didgeridoo and Flamenco and Minimal Music, his tonal repertoire today is very broad-based. Because he bases many of his pieces around endless breath cycles, there is an automatic close connection to Minimal Music.
